JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 2,343 new COVID-19 cases and 42 new deaths Wednesday, Dec. 16.
New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Tuesday. Thirty-three deaths occurred between November 28 and December 15 in the counties below.

As of Wednesday, Dec. 16, there have been 185,643 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 4,294 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 148,466 recoveries.
