JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,701 new COVID-19 cases and 28 new deaths Monday, Dec. 28.
New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Sunday. Three deaths occurred between December 25 and December 26 in the counties below.

As of Monday, Dec. 28, there have been 208,089 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 4,634 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 154,669 recoveries.
