JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,610 new COVID-19 cases and 28 new deaths Friday, July 24.
MSDH updates its case totals each morning based on test results from the previous day.
New COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH as of 6 p.m. Thursday:
- Bolivar - 1
- Forrest - 1
- Hinds - 2
- Jefferson Davis - 1
- Lauderdale - 1
- Lowndes - 1
- Oktibbeha - 1
- Pearl River - 2
- Pike - 1
- Sunflower - 1
- Union - 1
- Walthall - 1
- Washington - 3
Eleven confirmed COVID-19 related deaths occurred between July 5 and July 17, identified from death certificate reports. The additional deaths were reported in the following counties:
- George - 1
- Harrison - 1
- Holmes - 1
- Jones - 1
- Leake - 1
- Lincoln - 1
- Lowndes - 1
- Simpson - 1
- Tallahatchie - 1
- Tunica - 1
- Yazoo - 1
As of Friday, July 24, there have been 49,663 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 1,463 total deaths.
The state health department estimates there have been 30,315 recoveries.
