NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol is asking the public to take extra precautions with cold temperature and inclement weather just around the corner.

Cpl. Jason Roe with MHP says drivers need to take their time and be patient when it comes to traveling.

He also says to leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you in case you slide on ice.

"If you are traveling somewhere, make sure you have a plan,” said Roe. “And if something happens, make sure you know the area you are going to be in, so you can call say a hotel if you have to stay overnight say if your car breaks down."
