MHP to start Thanksgiving enforcement period Wednesday

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers are preparing to be out in full force this Thanksgiving to keep motorists safe.

The MHP 2018 Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement Period begins on Wednesday, November 21 at midnight. It will end on Sunday, November 25 at midnight.

Troopers will focus on saturation patrols to combat speeding, promote seatbelt usage and prevent reckless driving.

During the Thanksgiving holiday period last year, troopers investigated 163 crashes with five deaths and made 46 DUI arrests on state and federal highway systems.
