JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) released the latest numbers from its Thanksgiving holiday enforcement period, which began last Wednesday and ended Sunday.
The report said troopers responded to 246 crashes, including six fatalities and 52 injuries during the period.
MHP reported the fatal wrecks in the following counties: Marion, Hancock, Lauderdale and Covington.
Troopers also issued 5,922 citations, including 115 DUI arrests, 371 seat belt citations and 53 child-restraint citations.
MHP spokesman John Poulos said troopers anticipate even more travel during the December holiday period.
