JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) investigated two deaths during its 2020 Memorial Day enforcement period.
The enforcement period began Friday and ended Monday.
Troopers issued 6,511 citations and made 153 DUI arrests. They investigated 157 crashes, including 51 injuries.
One death happened Friday afternoon in Carroll County. The crash claimed the life a motorcyclist, 60-year-old William Rodgers of Vaiden.
The second death happened late Monday morning in Kemper County. The crash claimed the life of Kary Williams, 73, of Scooba.
During 2019's Memorial Day enforcement period, troopers investigated 148 crashes, including one death.
