COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton says authorities have made an arrest in a homicide investigation.

The suspect's name has not been released yet.

The victim's body was discovered in an apartment complex on 11th Street around 2 p.m. with a gunshot wound.

Police say this was not a random incident. They believe the suspect and victim did know each other.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant has identified the body as Walter James Kyles.

The body will be transported to the state medical examiners office in Pearl for an autopsy this week.

This is an ongoing investigation.
