COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Lowndes County detectives arrested two men in connection to a series of burglaries.
The first burglary happened Jan. 25 at the Dollar General store located at the intersection of Highway 45 North and Gatlin Road. Deputies discovered that someone had cut a hole in the back of the store and stole merchandise.
The second burglary was reported the following day at Magnolia Bottled Water, which is near the Dollar General store.
According to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins, a car was stolen during the burglary at Magnolia Bottled Water. The car was later recovered in Columbus.
Detectives identified Phillip Adkins Jr. and Valareio Harris as suspects.
The sheriff’s office charged Harris with two counts of burglary of a commercial business.
Adkins was charged with two counts of burglary of a commercial business, one count of burglary of a vehicle, and one count of motor vehicle theft.
Lowndes County detectives are working with Columbus Police to determine if the two men are involved in more thefts throughout the county, the sheriff said.
