Lowndes County collision kills Charleston man

The two trucks were traveling westbound on Highway 82.

A fatal wreck involving two semi-trucks in Lowndes County claimed the life of a Charleston man.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Two semi-trucks crashed in Lowndes County, killing a driver.

The collision happened late Wednesday night on Highway 82 near the Golden Triangle Regional Airport.

Trooper spokesman Sgt. Derrick Beckom said one truck collided with the rear of the other truck.

He identified one driver as Austen Adekweh, 59, of Houston, Texas.

He identified the other driver as Isaiah Lee, 30, of Charleston.

Both trucks were traveling westbound.

An ambulance transported Adekweh to the hospital in Columbus with moderate injuries.

Beckom said Lee was unrestrained and the 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating.
