AMORY, Miss (WTVA) - The Windows of Amory is currently going through a long-term restoration project.
The cultural art center was first built as a church in 1926.
Steve Stockton, the president of The Windows, says the masonry project was the first big project.
The next on the to-do list is the carpentry project where the frames of all of the windows will be secured.
The Windows is the oldest church building in Amory.
The stained glass windows were made by Tiffany in New York when the church was built.
"We want to preserve the building, we want to preserve the windows because of their beauty," Stockton said.
Once restored, the building will be utilized for the community for performing arts, an instructional setting, or an event venue.
Crews working on the bricks hope to have the project finished by Friday.
Stockton hopes to have the entire restoration project completed by 2026, which is the 100th anniversary of the building.
