Local girl dead, two other children hurt in Alabama boating accident

A girl from Northeast Mississippi died, and two others were hurt in a Friday boating accident in Winston County, Alabama.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVA) - A girl from Northeast Mississippi died, and two others were hurt in a Friday boating accident in Winston County, Alabama.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said nine people were on a 19-foot deck boat style vessel when the accident happened near the area of the Corinth Boat Ramp on Smith Lake.

Sgt. Chad Pate with ALEA said all involved were from the Pontotoc County area, including the 12-year-old girl who died as well as the 14-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl who were injured.

The deceased person has been identified as Maggie Lauren Tackett, 12.
