VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) - Volunteers from Serving Heart Food Pantry held a food and clothes giveaway outside of Anchor Church on Saturday.
Pantry coordinator, Robbie Gillespie said people stayed in their cars as volunteers gave enough food for 300 households.
Volunteers packed bags with meat, fruit, desserts, and bread. Also, Tupelo and Verona residents stuffed bags with as much clothes as they needed.
Gillespie said he and volunteers were happy to be a blessing to the community, especially during the pandemic.
“There’s a lot of people that have been hurting and hungry," he said. "But it’s such a blessing to be able to go in the community and help feed people.”
Volunteers plan to give food to 350 families in January.
