TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - A local female scout in the Yocana area Scouts council received one of the highest ranks in all of Scouts.
"It took a lot of effort to get here," Grace Price said.
It takes a lot of work to become an Eagle Scout.
In fact, according to Scout executive Rick Wise, only 4% of scouts achieve this rank.
On Saturday, Scout members and leaders celebrated Grace Price's accomplishment.
"They know me well enough," Price said. "Yeah, she deserved that so I'm going to be here to support that."
The Scouts has offered the Eagle Scout rank for a long time. Never in the Yocana Council has a female received the award.
"It takes a lot of work to get there," assistant scout executive Rick Wise said. "Not only do you have to earn numerous badges, but you have to hold leadership positions and you have to do a service project."
Grace continues setting the bar high, and troop leaders know her impact on Troop 92 will last forever.
"Girls in the troop are looking up to her as she is leading the way in achieving scouting's highest rank," Wise said.
As for Grace, she wants other female scouts to know they can achieve this award too.
"Just know that no matter when it gets hard because it will get hard, that it's worth it," Price said.
For one of Grace's service projects, she created a special area at a local church for people to come and meditate.
