TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - A local bike group ended its weekend event and hopes it will continue for years to come.

The Northeast Mississippi Cycling Club hosted the Renasant Criterium on Saturday and Sunday. Races were held throughout downtown Tupelo.

The event hosted about 70 bikers from across the state and even outside of Mississippi.

Race Director Matt Mackey says a portion of the proceeds will go to Hope Continues and the Family Resource Center.

Mackey says the event is already planned for the future.

"We have committed sponsors for the next two years, so we are just looking to grow this event each year and keep doing it," said Mackey.

Winners from the event's last race include:

John Mooney from Sherwood, Ark., finishing in first place.

Will Stoffel from Germantown, Tenn., finishing in second place.

Scott Kuppersmith from Jackson,  finishing in third place.
