TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Tupelo mayor-elect Todd Jordan officially resigned from the Lee County Board of Supervisors on Monday.
His new job will be to lead the city of Tupelo as its mayor. He'll take office on July 1.
Chancery Court Clerk Bill Benson said the Board accepted the resignation Monday morning.
The Board approved the appointment of Jordan’s wife, Christy Jordan, to fill the vacant District 3 seat on an interim basis.
She’ll also take office on July 1.
Benson said supervisors will declare the District 3 seat vacant during their meeting on July 6.
This is part of the process of setting a special election to fill the remainder of Todd Jordan’s term.
The special election is expected to be held later this year.
