TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Law enforcement in at least three local counties carried out search warrants Tuesday, but it is not entirely clear just what they were trying to find.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said deputies searched a Chevron in Saltillo and a store in Auburn but does not plan to reveal what the search was for until a Wednesday afternoon news conference.
Monroe County Sheriff Kevin Crook said officers searched a Chevron on Highway 145 in Aberdeen but did not reveal any other information about the search.
In Tishomingo County, law enforcement searched three convenience stores and shut them down: Handy Sandy in Iuka, the Marathon Gas Station in Iuka and the Golden Mini-Mart in Golden.
Sheriff John Daugherty said officers arrested the owners of two stores and charged them with felony sale of a controlled substance.
He identified them as Omar Naji Quhshi, who owns the Marathon Gas Station, and Wadee Fadel, who owns the Handy Sandy.
