STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- An Oktibbeha County Circuit Court jury deliberated less than 30 minutes before finding a Kosciusko man guilty in the shooting death of a woman at the Starkville Walmart.
District Attorney Scott Colom confirmed William Thomas Chisholm, 44, was convicted of capital murder in the shooting death of Dr. Shauna Witt, 42, of Maben.
Dr. Witt worked as an optometrist at the store and was at work investigators say Chisholm walked into the store and shot her on January 13, 2018.
She died at the OCH Regional Medical Center.
Coroner Michael Hunt said Witt had been shot twice.
Starkville police arrested Chisholm in the parking lot of the store.
Police said the two were in an "on again, off again" dating relationship according to friends and family.
