STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - It looks like someone deliberately set a Monday morning house fire, according to Oktibbeha County Fire Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan.

The house is located in the Sunset Subdivision, west of Starkville.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m.

No one lived in the home, Rosenhan said.

The blaze damaged one side of the building, part of the attic and one other room.

The Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office was also called, due to the suspicious nature of the fire.

A spokesman for the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office, Brett Watson, said the sheriff’s office is investigating.
