CLARKSDALE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Law enforcement is searching for an inmate escapee with Lee County ties.
Clarksdale Police Chief Sandra Williams says Walter Lee Lewis escaped from a job site Thursday afternoon.
The chief says Lewis, of Pascagoula, was assigned to help the city with cutting the grass when he was last seen around 1:05 p.m.
Lewis, 31, was convicted in February 2010 of conspiracy to commit a crime and malicious mischief in Lee County and received a 20-year-sentence.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections says Lewis was housed at the Quitman County Community Work Center.
Lewis is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds.
