UPDATE: Marion County, AL jail escapee captured

A man was able to escape from the Marion County, Alabama, jail Monday morning.

MARION COUNTY, Ala. (WTVA) - A man was able to escape from the Marion County, Alabama, jail Monday morning.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Department, Thomas Joe Green, 31, escaped from the jail at approximately 12:45 a.m. 

He is described as a white male, 6'0" in height, weighing 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

He was in jail for first-degree rape.

The sheriff's department says he has ties to the Haleyville and Muscle Shoals areas. He's originally from Joiner, Arkansas.

He was last seen wearing white pants and a long-sleeved charcoal gray shirt.
