JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - An investigation into alleged human trafficking led to the arrest of a man from Montgomery County.
According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI), U.S. Marshals arrested Dustin Swopes, 40, of Kilmichael, on Jan. 15 in Monroe, Louisiana.
On Dec. 27, 2020, the MBI received a tip from someone who said a 15-year-old girl was possibly involved in a human trafficking operation.
The investigation led officers to Swopes. He faces exploitation of children and sexual battery charges.
He is currently awaiting extradition to Mississippi.
