(WTVA) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a child in Marshall County.
The wreck happened Tuesday night at approximately 10:23 on Mississippi Highway 309.
According to trooper spokesman Sgt. Marvin Baird, an SUV struck the rear of a southbound car.
The driver of the SUV ran away from the scene into a wooded area.
The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man from Memphis, Tennessee, and his other passengers were injured.
MHP did not provide a description of the driver of the SUV, only stating “an unknown subject.”
