HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) - A Houston woman is speaking out after witnessing a high-speed chase Wednesday evening.
Sylvia Earnest said she was driving South on Jackson Street near the Houston courthouse when she saw a driver rush past her.
Sylvia explained that the man was speeding North on the wrong side of the street, squeezed in between her and a car in the turning lane, and kept going.
“I just knew it was over for me like i thought he was going to hit me head on," she said. 'It was nothing but God that he got beside me and everyone else involved.”
The driver’s girlfriend was also in the car, but Sylvia didn't remember seeing her.
Houston's police said the girlfriend jumped out of the moving car before the chase ended.
During the high-speed chase, a another resident tried to stop the car with his garbage can, but after seeing the video, Sylvia said she was happy she didn’t try to intervene.
She said she's just grateful the police were eventually able to catch the couple.
As for the couple, law enforcement said they are facing federal and local charges.
