OXFORD, Miss (WTVA) - Two winter storms sent local shoppers to grocery stores to stock up on essentials. Now that the storms are gone, stores are again seeing a rush of shoppers.
"It made me feel like it was Walmart in there," shopper Justin Allen said.
That's how busy Cash Saver was early Saturday morning.
The shelves were empty on Friday. Saturday, they were full again thanks to a timely delivery.
"We got a truck in -- delivery of food, meat, produce, and frozen," store owner Brent Larson said. "People have really come out."
Store employees this week saw long lines, empty shelves and a mad dash of shoppers ready to stock up.
"We were able to find everything we were looking for," Allen said. "But it just took a little longer because of the lines."
For some shoppers, the lines were worth it because they didn’t have to go far to find food.
"That was like really our last option because we didn't want to go all the way down Jackson (Avenue), and Walmart is packed out," added Allen. "So we just decided to stop here since it's right around from the house."
