JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Gov. Tate Reeves has named the interim commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
Reeves announced the appointment of Tommy Taylor, who is closing out his duties as Boyle’s mayor to begin serving as interim commissioner right away.
“Mayor Taylor has proven his dedication to serving our citizens—today he is stepping up to serve Mississippi once again," Reeves said.
Taylor previously served as a member of the House of Representatives. He served on the Corrections Committee and on several other committees. He also previously served as a district attorney investigator, a chief deputy sheriff, a city police officer, prison warden and election commissioner.
