COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - The Golden Triangle Regional Airport has plans to take the airport to new heights.
Airport Executive Director Mike Hainsey said the airport is expanding 5,000-square-feet for additional seating in the terminal, expanding the parking lot and repaving the runway.
The expansion is to accommodate the high volume of passengers.
Hainsey said the Department of Transportation granted the airport a $3.2 million infrastructure grant.
The Federal Aviation Administration also granted it $1.8 million for terminal and parking lot expansion.
Hainsey said the terminal expansion will be completed next month. The terminal will have free Wi-Fi and other amenities that larger airports have.
