FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) - It was scary moments for a mother of nine Sunday night, when a tree came crashing onto their home.

Linda Pitts lived has lived there for the past six months and is now trying to find a place to start over. She was home when the storm came through.

"It was very scary it was like a tornado, Pitts shared. "My brother saw the doors breathing and my mom and him saw all the children into the middle room. By the time I got in the middle room, the tree just fell on the house."

Across the street, the roof of a garage at Tombigbee Electric was ripped off by the wind.

Across town on Bankhead Street, two trees were blown over.

One tree pulled down power lines and blocked Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

"It shook the house, broke the cracks in the wall and everything," said the mother. "We're definitely going to be needing help because like I said, the community is wonderful. They've helped us and we just got started getting on our feet and everything. So now I'm starting all over again."

Storms caused damage in Fulton, including some on the campus of Itawamba Community College.

Trees were uprooted near the college's Davis Event Center. Trees also damaged the college's Cypress Pavilion. A fence at the football stadium was also crushed.

Everyone in the house was able to get out safely.
