Former Oxford School District business manager charged with embezzlement

According to the Oxford Police Department, officers served an arrest warrant Wednesday on Charles Rainey, 46, of Oxford.

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) – The former business manager of the Oxford School District has been charged with embezzlement.

According to the Oxford Police Department, officers served an arrest warrant Wednesday on Charles Rainey, 46, of Oxford.

He was charged with embezzlement.

Police say on Tuesday a complaint was filed stating Rainey took money from the Oxford School District to pay personal bills and pay himself extra money.

Police estimate the amount taken to be $1,800.

Oxford School District Superintendent Brian Harvey confirms Rainey was the district’s business manager for approximately one year. Harvey says Rainey is no longer with the district.

Rainey’s bond was set at $3,000.
