WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) - Former Mississippi State football standout and NFL player Johnthan Banks was booked into jail for domestic violence aggravated assault.
According to the Clay County jail roster, 30-year-old Banks was booked Wednesday morning at 8:08.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott later confirmed Banks is accused of choking his wife early Wednesday morning. The alleged incident happened at their home near Phebe, which is in Clay County.
Webster County deputies arrested Banks during a traffic stop in Eupora, the sheriff said.
He is currently out on bond.
Banks graduated from East Webster High School and played his college career as a Bulldog.
He won the Jim Thorpe Award following the 2012 season, which is given to the top defensive back in college football.
He played a few seasons in the NFL with several teams.
