JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Brian Flowers has won a congressional Republican primary runoff.
He will face Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson in November.
Flowers, who works at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, beat out Thomas Carey, a retired real estate agent.
Thompson is the longest-serving member of Mississippi's current congressional delegation.
Election officials say voter turnout appeared to be low for the runoff.
In a nonpartisan special election Tuesday in Jones and Jasper counties to fill a state House seat Robin Robinson beat Michael Walker. A third candidate appeared on the ballot but dropped out.
