AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - During Jan. 21’s Board of Aldermen meeting, some residents in Amory voiced frustrations from the flooding of Jan. 11’s rain.
More rain is expected later this week. Back in the middle of January, many streets in Amory saw significant flooding issues. It even caused temporary road closures.
A few Amory residents and business owners spoke about the flooding and said they have seen the water come up many times in the past few years.
When the water comes over the road and people drove through the flooded streets. It causes more damage to the surrounding buildings because that pushes more water into the buildings.
During the meeting, concerns about flood zoning within the city were also raised.
Alderman Glen Bingham said this week, the city will work on inspecting and making recommendations to help fix the flooding concerns.
