Five sent to hospitals after Pontotoc County wreck

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent five people to the hospital.

THAXTON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent five people to the hospital.

Cpl. Jason Roe with MHP says troopers responded to US 278, near Thaxton Road, at approximately 5:16 p.m. Saturday.

"Upon arriving it appeared that Jessica Jordan, 28, of Oxford, was driving a 2014 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on US 278 when she rear-ended a slowing 2017 Toyota Rav4, driven by Kenneth Christman, 66, of Water Valley," said Roe.

Christman and a female passenger were transported by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with moderate injuries.

Jordan and a child passenger were transported by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with moderate injuries.

Another child passenger with Jordan was airlifted to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis with life-threatening injuries. The child was not wearing a seatbelt.
