TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Tupelo Football Booster parents are eager to get into the football spirit as Tupelo High School Golden Wave’s first home game of the season is quickly approaching.
On Wednesday, football booster parents met at the Tupelo High School football stadium to get ready for the upcoming game against West Point on Friday.
“Very high, yes.” Parent K. C. Grist said about how school spirit at Tupelo High is right now.
Parents hung up flags around the stadium to rally school spirit this evening in preparation for Friday’s first home game of the season against West Point.
“We’ve had tremendous support selling our great “T” flags, our booster flags, and we’ve got folks putting them up so that we get to show them off here in the stadium,” Grist said with a big smile.
Parents also sold some merchandise earlier in the day as people walked up to buy tickets for Friday’s game, including the flags.
“That are new this year. We wanted to give our community an opportunity to support our team even if they’re not able to come,” Grist said.
Booster members also picked up trash and tidied things around the field to make it look more presentable for the first game.
Football booster member Jay Weirs said the school will take care of the rest such as tending the field before the game.
“We have wonderful sponsors that we are putting their banners up,” Grist said.
She added parents are eager to get the new football season underway.
“It’s been a long time since anybody’s been able to play football, so we’re getting ready to welcome West Point into our beautiful stadium here.”
Tupelo High School’s first home football game of the season starts on Friday, September 11 at 7:00 P.M. Senior night festivities start at 6:30 P.M., and the stadium will be limited to 25% percent capacity.
