Fire Marshal to assess Tupelo house fire damage

Updated - An investigation is underway into a house fire in Tupelo.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Tupelo Fire Chief Thomas Walker said the State Fire Marshal's Office will assess the damage done to a Tupelo home this week.

Firefighters rushed to Raspberry Street to battle the blaze until midnight Saturday.

Walker said the house sustained heavy fire damage in the kitchen and water and smoke damage to the rest of the home.

People were inside the home when the fire broke out, but they managed to escape.

Walker said there were no reported injuries.
