PRAIRE, Miss. (WTVA) - A Monroe County house suffered significant damage after a fire broke out Wednesday morning, according to investigators.
Crews from the Cedar Creek Volunteer Fire Department and other agencies responded to the house on Old Magnolia Highway after 6 a.m. when the fire was reported.
Firefighters reported when they arrived on scene, flames and smoke were coming from a bedroom area.
The occupants of the home were able to safely evacuate and were not injured.
Due to extensive damage caused by the fire, the house is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
