(WTVA) - The Lee County Sheriff’s Department reported a fatal crash Wednesday afternoon
Sheriff Jim Johnson said the wreck happened shortly after 3:00 on County Road 300, which is west of Shannon.

The driver of an eastbound vehicle lost control, and the vehicle left the road and flipped.
The driver was the only person inside the vehicle.
The sheriff’s department did not initially provide the name of the deceased individual.
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green later identified the driver as Jeremy Clippard, 19, of Shannon.
Clippard was a member of the Shannon High School Class of 2020, the Lee County School District confirmed.
Shannon High School Principal Jason Arledge issued the following statement:
"Today, our Red Raider family mourns the loss of one of our most recent graduates. Jeremy Clippard had grown into a strong, respectful, self-sufficient young man who had completed his high school journey this past spring and was preparing to serve our country in the United States Army. No matter the connection we had with him, as a student, a baseball player, or a classmate, he will forever remain a cherished member of our Red Raider family.
We will have additional counselors on standby to be contacted if anyone is in need to talk to someone during our summer office hours. Further instructions and funeral arrangements will be posted by the family at a later date.
Please continue to remember the Clippard family in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks to come. Thank you for being a part of our Red Raider family."
