ALTITUDE, Miss. (WTVA) — One person is dead, and another is under arrest after a fatal shooting Friday in Prentiss County.
Sheriff Randy Tolar said deputies found the body of a 21-year-old man in the 200 block of Highway 364 in Altitude no more than ten minutes after someone at that location called for help.
Law enforcement later started looking for the 18-year-old man they wanted in connection with the killing.
Tolar said that man left in a silver Chevrolet Impala, and investigators believe someone threw the gun from the car, a gun eventually discovered on the side of a county road.
They found the man in a room at a Tupelo motel and got him with the help of Tupelo police officers and a SWAT team.
The sheriff did not release the name of the person killed or of the person arrested.
