TUPELO, Miss (WTVA) - The Family Resource Center announced the food giveaway is back starting Wednesday.

The non-profit organization will resume the giveaway at the Tupelo Furniture Market in front of Building 5.

With the help of volunteers, the Family Resource Center will give away 1400 food boxes Wednesday.

One of those volunteers is Contina Smith from Nettleton who is very passionate about helping out the community,

"It's kind of sad, I want to help people because they need food and...it's hard."

She and her husband have been helping at the Family Resource Center for months, despite having dealt with struggles themselves because of the coronavirus.

Eddie Begonia with the Family Resource Center says he meets and has spoken to many people who will give out the boxes of food.

"Different stories for each person but it's all the same need."

Organizers said there is just one difference, food will be handed out at 3 p.m. every Wednesday until the end of the year.

The food is available to families in Lee County and the surrounding areas.
