(WTVA) - The Food and Drug Administration has given emergency authorization for use of a third dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The booster will be available and authorized for emergency use in those 65-years-old and older.
The authorization also allows for those who are at high risk of exposure to COVID or severe illness to receive a third dose, or booster shot.
The FDA's decision comes as an advisory group to the Centers for Disease Control held a two-day meeting on the safety and effectiveness of the booster shot.
Tomorrow, those advisers will vote on who will qualify for a third shot.
