EUPORA, Miss. (WTVA) - In mid-November, the city of Eupora was voted resort status for their local lake.
This new status allows the city to sell alcohol while being within a dry county.
Shortly after the announcement, Mitchell's Central Service Grill applied for a liquors license.
The restaurant plans to sell wines and other small alcoholic beverages with meals.
Restaurant owner, Lisa Davis said this addition to their menu would help her business through the pandemic.
She also thinks alcohol sales will be helpful to locals by saving them a trip across county lines.
“A lot of the surrounding counties can already serve and have a glass of wine with your meal," explained Davis. "So we’re excited to be able to offer that here in the city of Eupora.”
Davis said she is unsure when the restaurant will be approved but hopes to be able to sell after the new year.
