STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Federal officials are at the site of a construction accident in Starkville that killed two construction workers from Alabama.
It happened near Lynn Lane and South Montgomery Street.

Starkville Fire Chief Charles Yarbrough said a trench collapsed at the site this morning, killing one instantly.
Responders are still trying to get that worker's body out of the trench.
The other worker died at a Tupelo hospital.
Yarbrough said the construction workers from Tuscaloosa-based Southern Civil Contracting Inc. were installing sewer lines for new townhomes.
He added construction began last week.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Emergency crews responded to a construction accident in Starkville Tuesday morning.
According to the Starkville Police Department, the accident happened near Lynn Lane and South Montgomery Street.
Ryan Phillips of the Starkville Daily News spoke with Starkville Fire Chief Charles Yarbrough who said a trench collapsed at the site, killing one person but initially injured another person, a 19-year-old.

But the Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt told Phillips the 19 year old later died at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
