COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - An early-morning standoff in Lowndes County ended with no injuries and a person in custody.
The standoff happened at a home on Jess Lyons Road, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.

He said deputies responded to the home at approximately 3:22 for a report of a person being shot.
However, when deputies arrived, they determined a 27-year-old man had been assaulted but not shot.
The alleged suspect, a 24-year-old, was inside the home and refused to cooperate with deputies or come out of the home, the sheriff said.
More than three hours later, SWAT was able to get the suspect to surrender. The suspect was taken to the Lowndes County jail.
The sheriff later identified the suspect as Nicholas Vaughn, 24, of Columbus. Investigators charged him with aggravated assault and auto burglary.
Jess Lyons Road is located off U.S. Highway 45, just south of the Columbus Air Force Base.
