TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Dulcimer musicians gathered to share the "sweet sound."

Members of the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association meet a few times a month to play songs for audiences.

The musicians met at the Natchez Trace Parkway's Visitor's Center on Saturday.

The full name for the instrument is the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer, and it was the first major instrument developed in America in the late 1700s.

The name Dulcimer is a combination of Greek and Latin meaning "sweet song" or "sweet sound."
