Crews demolishing the Tombigbee Inn in Aberdeen on Oct. 20, 2020.
Now, Aberdeen hopes to see the hotel restored to its former glory.
The Parkway Hotel will remain standing, but the Tombigbee Motel attached to its side is being demolished.
Main Street Manager Ann Tackett said Aberdeen Main Street now owns the property.
“We want to sell this hotel to an investor that would restore the hotel, and it would give us a good place for people to stay in Aberdeen,” she added.
The plan is to put four new apartments at the top of the hotel and include a new dining facility and a new coffee shop.
Demolition should be completed this week.
As far as completing the restoration, Tackett aims to complete the project within the next three years.
