Deer causes two wrecks in Lowndes County

District 5 volunteer firefighters and Columbus firefighters responded.

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Crews responded to two wrecks caused by deer Saturday afternoon near Columbus, sending one person to the hospital.

Emergency crews confirmed a white car was reported to be in a ditch, after hitting a deer and a tree sometime near 1 p.m. on the Highway 82 bypass eastbound.

A truck then hit the deer in the road, then struck a guide wire and spun out of control.

The female driver in the car was taken to the hospital while the truck driver was treated on scene, according to officials.
