JASPER, Ala. (WTVA) - Two people died Sunday in two separate crashes near Jasper.
The first crash happened shortly after midnight on Alabama Highway 269, about 13 miles south of Jasper.
While trying to elude Jasper police, the driver of a pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car, according to troopers.
The truck caught fire. Troopers are working to identify the driver.
Medics transported the driver of the car to a local hospital for serious injuries.
The second crash happened at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Alabama Highway 68, according to troopers.
Senior Trooper Gregory Corble says Belinda Sue Clark Justics, 50, was killed when the SUV she was driving left the roadway, struck a guardrail, crossed the highway and collided with a pickup truck.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Corble did not say if the truck driver received any injuries.
