MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Trinity Baptist Church on Athens Quincy Road in Monroe County is planning a drive through trunk or treat for Halloween.
The trunk or treat will be on Halloween, October 31st. Organizers are still unsure of the time right now.
Those giving away candy will make individual goody bags with individually wrapped candy to hand out to the trick or treaters.
Molly Sims is a church member and a parent of two. She says her kids love dressing up for Halloween and getting candy, "As a parent, I wouldn't want to miss those milestones, and I wouldn't want other parents too either."
Sims says the event is not just for church members but for anyone in the community, "We are prepared for 1-100 5-500. anyone who wants to participate they are more than welcome."
Normally the church would have a fall festival for the community. But because of the coronavirus church members have opted for a safer option, "We love giving back to our community here a Trinity, and with COVID we haven't been able to do that either."
The CDC has released its Halloween recommendations.
