TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - No one will be allowed to enter the Lee County Courthouse until further notice as a precaution against the possible spread of coronavirus.
Lee County Tax Assessor Mark Weathers said a man entered the courthouse Wednesday morning to buy a car tag.
The man said he took his wife to the hospital because he thought she might have the coronavirus.
After the man left, employees wiped down the area and locked the courthouse.
There are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Lee County, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health.
The offices inside the courthouse are still operational and regular work continues.
However, anyone who needs to buy a car tag can go to LeeCoTaxCollector.com or call the office at 662-432-2200.
Anyone who needs to fill out a homestead exemption can call the tax assessor at 662-432-2700.
