CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) - Corinth police are investigating a Corinth student who was found with a concealed weapon.

According to the Corinth School District, high school administrators received a report Wednesday morning that a student had a weapon.

They detained the student and contacted Corinth police.

A search of the student revealed the student had a concealed weapon, according to the school district.

The school district did not specify what type of weapon.

However, Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance later confirmed the student is charged with possession of a firearm on a school campus.

Corinth police officers transported the student to the police department.

Dance confirmed the student is 15 years old. The case will be handled through youth court, he said.

Dance said Corinth school officials moved the student away from other students until police arrived.
